The Tonsley Innovation District is the result of significant government and private investment to repurpose the former Mitsubishi car manufacturing plant into a collaborative research hub focusing on collaboration, research and development in advanced manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies. Today Tonsley is home to over 1700 employees, 70% more than when the Mitsubishi plant announced its closure in 2008.
The Tonsley Innovation District is also home to BAE Systems Line Zero – Factory of the Future, a purpose-built facility for industrial scale testing of new technologies and processes ahead of their use in the advanced manufacturing or shipbuilding industry. This event will be held in conjunction with BAE Systems “Business Symposium Week” and will be a great opportunity to network with National AIDN Member, BAE Systems staff and international stakeholders.
