Australian avionics and mission-critical electronics manufacturer Thomas Global Systems will supply Power Distribution Units (PDU) and other electronics as part of Northrop Grumman’s rollout of its Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) for the US Army.
Northrop Grumman’s IBCS integrates a multitude of sensors and connectors to enable joint, multi-domain command and control.
Thomas Global Systems is a significant supplier of PDUs to the IBCS which has also been fielded for Poland’s WISLA medium range air and missile defence program via a foreign military sales contract.
The PDUs have been wholly designed by Thomas Global Systems for the IBCS as part of a Low-Rate Initial Production contract. The recent US Army decision to field the IBCS to operational air defence units for further development is expected to scale-up demand for Thomas Global’s PDUs.
Thomas Global Systems anticipates moving to Full-Rate Production volumes of PDUs and other electronics through a joint workshare arrangement between Thomas Global’s two advanced manufacturing centres situated in Sydney, Australia and Irvine, California.
“We congratulate Northrop Grumman on the development of the state-of-the-art IBCS, which will play a pivotal role in the US Army’s future air and missile defence strategy, and we are pleased to be selected as a best-in-class supplier of high integrity electronics for advanced military systems,” Thomas Global Systems CEO, Angus Hutchinson, said.
