USS Canberra Arrives in Sydney for Commissioning

Due to a shift in the ship’s schedule, USS Canberra (LCS 30) is set to arrive at the Royal Australian Navy’s Fleet Base East in Sydney, Australia, Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. AEST. USS Canberra will be commissioned there Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. AEST.

Media are invited to attend the ship arrival on Fleet Base East, and will have an opportunity to gather B-roll, live shots, and imagery.

A media availability will be held Tuesday, July 18 following the ship mooring. Those available to interview include U.S. Navy Littoral Combat Ship Squadron ONE Commodore Capt. Marc Crawford, USS Canberra (LCS 30) Gold crew Commanding Officer, U.S. Navy Cmdr. Bobby Barber, and HMAS Canberra (III) Commanding Officer, Royal Australian Navy Capt. Brendan O’Hara. Media are advised to meet no later than 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18 at Garden Island Precinct, Cowper Wharf Roadway, Woolloomooloo, NSW.

Christened and launched Jun. 5, 2021, Canberra was delivered Dec. 21, 2021 to the U.S. Navy. Canberra will be commissioned at the Royal Australian Navy’s Fleet Base East in Sydney, Australia on Jul. 22, 2023 and return to her homeport of San Diego.
