Canberra:
Three AIDN member companies have hosted Minister for Defence Industry and Capability Delivery, Pat Conroy at facilities in Adelaide as the Albanese government unveils an extra $262 million in funding for defence industry investment programs.
As part of an effort to encourage more SME’s to get involved in the defence sector Minister Conroy toured cutting edge ASX-listed global X-ray technology systems developer Micro-X and leading industrial automation and control systems integrator Sage Group at Tonsley Innovation Hub.
ASX-listed global communications and technology solutions company Codan also hosted a ministerial visit at Mawson Lakes for the launch of a new drone radio production line.
Minister Conroy earlier announced that a further $262 million would be invested to encourage Australian companies through the Defence Industry Development Grants program, the Global Supply Chain program and the Defence Industry Vendor Qualification program.
“AIDN welcomes the extra funding for Australian industry and will continue to work with government on investment programs to ensure they are a suitable fit for members,’’ AIDN CEO Mike Johnson said.
“Australia’s industrial priorities can only be achieved if the procurement framework guarantees genuinely local, Australian-owned small and medium-sized businesses are truly thriving, by obtaining substantial work opportunities,’’ he added.

In an environment of economic and geopolitical uncertainty, AIDN’s agile membership is well-positioned to support the Australian Government’s urgent capability needs. However, clear guidance on specific priorities is essential to unlock the full potential of Australia’s Defence industry.
Through advocacy, representation, and tailored member services, AIDN champions the interests of Australian SMEs within the Defence and national security sectors. AIDN remains committed to partnering with the Australian Government to build a resilient and self-reliant Defence industrial base, driven by the evolving operational needs of the ADF.
