The Window to Australia’s
National Defence & Industry
Networking
From ideas to connection Networking Events

AIDN, A more secure Australia.

Welcome to the AIDN National Website. AIDN was established in 1985. Through a series of incorporated associations national representation of SMEs in the Defence sector developed and eventually merged to create the Peak Federal Industry Association.
The Australian defence industry employed 61,600 people and contributed $10.6 billion to the Australian economy in the 2021-22 financial year, according to data released in Dec 2022 by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). In our current geopolitical environment this sector has a lot of potential to grow and deliver more to Australia, and to Defence Capability.
Networking is a core element of AIDN’s strategy and purpose and I encourage you to get involved with the network, seek out your opportunities to collaborate and work together with like minded business in Defence Industry. Our Defence Force requires our support as a Fundamental Input to Defence Capability and our efforts will only strengthen their ability to serve the nation.

HOW WE HELP MEMBERS

Service #1

Assist members in their dealings with the Australian Government (including Government Departments) and Defence prime contractors.

Service #2

Facilitate the dissemination of Australian Government and prime contractor defence and security-related policy and procurement information to members.

Service #3

Represent members in the presentation of a consolidated Australian SME view, independent of federal or sectoral interests, to both Federal and State/Territory Governments and Defence Prime Contractors.

Service #4

Facilitate networking between Federal, State/Territory and regional Defence Industry bodies aimed to optimise Australian industrial capability/content in all Defence and Security-related contracts.

CORE STRATEGIES

ADVOCACY

AIDN National will provide leadership and build and maintain key partnerships at local, national and international level, through influencing national policy and strategy and maintaining key relationships with political and Government decision makers.

REPRESENTATION

AIDN National, acting as a central point of coordination, will service its chapters and their members through providing relevant information and awareness on the defence and security environments, opportunities for collaboration and engagement and Governance oversight.

MEMBER SERVICES

AIDN National, through understanding the National industry’s view, will represent SMEs by providing a “Voice” for their issues and concerns and promoting members capabilities.
