Babcock Australasia (Babcock) has used its presence at Avalon Airshow to seed export opportunities for Australian defence suppliers and showcase sovereign capabilities to the world, as part of its ongoing contribution to the Global Supply Chain Program (GSCP).

The Babcock team connected with nearly 200 suppliers during the biennial tradeshow, hosting delegations and visiting with small and medium enterprises across the four-day event to forge ties.

The GSCP is a Commonwealth initiative designed to identify alternative revenue streams and export opportunities for domestic suppliers through the global supply chains of Australia’s leading defence primes. Babcock is one of 13 primes handpicked to participate in this collaborative endeavour.

“Avalon Airshow provided the perfect platform to engage with industry leaders, government representatives, key partners, and of course suppliers – new and existing – to map the latest capability needs and build resilience in Australia’s industrial base,” Babcock Australasia Global Supply Chain Program Manager Kellie Jenkins said.

“The event gave us a unique opportunity to exchange ideas, strengthen relationships, and ensure our collective efforts align with Australia’s defence and aviation goals.”

A key topic of discussion was the prospective manufacturing capabilities of suppliers, with particular emphasis on the future delivery of electronics.

“We also participated in the Meet the Primes pitch event hosted by CASG, held briefings with trade envoys to identify international opportunities and met with a number of key suppliers which we have established previous connections with at other trade shows including Land Forces,” Ms Jenkins said.

The GSCP team will now advance discussions with a select group of suppliers around export opportunities within Babcock’s global enterprise.

“The connections we’ve established here reaffirm the vital role Babcock plays in strengthening Australian industry capability and positioning the nation’s technology and services on the global stage,” Ms Jenkins said. “We’re excited about the next steps and the opportunities these discussions have unlocked.”
