SYDNEY, 31st May 2023: Carbonix, a leading Australian drone manufacturer and solutions provider, is
proud to announce its recent achievement of the Basic Aviation Risk Standards (BARS) certification.
The BARS certification is an internationally recognized program that provides a standard for remotely
piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) operators to assist in the risk-based management, ensuring rigorous
oversight of contracted RPAS operating activities.

The certification is a critical component of Carbonix’s commitment to upholding the highest standards
of aviation safety and operations, positioning the company as a trusted partner for organisations
operating in sectors such as the resources and critical infrastructure industries.
The rigorous process evaluates various aspects of Carbonix’s operations including safety management
systems, emergency response procedures, crew training, and maintenance practices. Carbonix CEO
Philip van der Burg said the achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the
Carbonix team to maintain the highest levels of RPAS operational safety and reaffirms our position as a
leader in the drone industry.

In advance of being awarded the BARS certificate, Carbonix completed a number of Beyond Visual Line
of Sight (BVLOS) flights. The company obtained BVLoS approval in March for Riverstone, Greater
Sydney, using its Australian built VTOL/fixed wing aircraft.

The approval, from Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), was one of the first given to a
long-range aerial data capture aircraft, paving the way for Carbonix to complete BVLOS testing and
missions across their partner sites with sophisticated payloads including survey grade LiDar scanners
and photogrammetry cameras.

Carbonix drones now have a proven five-hour endurance (450km range) with 25km radio range (single
station expandable to 1,000 m plus), solidifying the company’s position as the leading provider of
commercial long-range precision data capture capabilities.
