The Future Through Collaboration (TFTC)
On 29 August 2024, The Future Though Collaboration (TFTC) will launch its 10th incredible year of empowering women in STEM roles in Defence and defence industry.
Born out of a desire to address gender diversity and inclusion in defence industry and contribute to Defence capability, the 12-month, structured mentoring program has endured, matured and expanded over the past decade. Initially supporting just 12 mentees, the 2024 program welcomes 65 mentees, the largest ever cohort.
Charu Bhardwaj, Project Manager at Airservices Australia and TFTC mentee in 2022 and mentor in 2023, reflects on the impact of her involvement in the TFTC program. “The two big things I took away were confidence and networking. The group of women you meet through this program, it’s simply incredible.”
The significance of 10 years of the TFTC program is not lost on Amelia De Angelis, Kinexus COO and TFTC Chairperson. “I’m not sure we planned three years ahead when we launched the pilot program in 2015, let alone 10,” she says. “We didn’t know if there would still be a need for this program into the future, or if industry would continue to support it.”
“But now we know; women continue to see enormous value in investing in themselves through this mentoring program, and we have incredible participating organisations that have shown long-term support. We look forward to celebrating their contribution together in Canberra.”
A jam-packed day of events is scheduled for 29th August to celebrate this significant milestone, culminating in the 10th anniversary dinner featuring renowned keynote speaker Rabia Siddique.
