Defence Families of Australia (DFA) is proud to welcome Charlotte Webb as the newly-appointed Defence Family Advocate of Australia.
Ms Webb brings her lived experience to the forefront as the lead advocate for the families of 84,000 current serving Australian Defence Force (ADF) members.
“I am genuinely passionate in advocating for Defence families to ensure that they have a voice and feel heard at the highest levels of the decision and policy making process,” said Ms Webb.
“I have been a spouse of a serving member, an Army Reservist, and mother to children raised in a Defence home.
“It is an honour to be appointed as the Defence Family Advocate of Australia.”
Ms Webb said she was humbled to be in a role which allowed her to make positive and sustainable changes for Defence families, now and into the future.
“I look forward to working with the DFA team, who have proven their dedication to championing the interests of current serving ADF members.
“We will continue to listen to and engage with our community and stakeholders.”
Ms Webb joins DFA after serving as the inaugural Riverina Veteran Wellbeing Centre Manager since 2021.
Following the resignation of the former Defence Family Advocate and Deputy Defence Family Advocate in August 2023, DFA has been operating under caretaker arrangements, with the team at less than 70 per cent of its full capacity.
During this time, DFA has done significant work in contributing to ongoing national priorities and working groups, including the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide Stakeholder Reference Group and the Defence and Veteran Family Wellbeing Strategy Steering Committee and Working Group.
