FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 8 SEPTEMBER 2025
Launceston:
The Australian Industry & Defence Network (AIDN) will officially launch its Tasmania chapter on 25 September 2025 at the Australian Maritime College, Newnham. The event, held directly after the ODIS Forum 2025, will bring together representatives from federal and state government, Defence, local industry, and academia celebrating collaboration and the vital role Tasmania plays in Australia’s sovereign defence capability.
AIDN CEO, Mike Johnson, said the national body is focused on building real partnerships and supporting SME growth across every state and territory.
“Join representatives from federal government and Defence as we come together to celebrate the industry and all it has achieved over the past year,” Mr Johnson said.
“This launch event is about empowering Tasmanian businesses, connecting innovators, and setting the stage for deeper collaboration in the national interest.”
The AIDN Tasmania launch will feature keynote presentations, industry networking, and a showcase of local and national SME capability, with support from leading partners such as ODIS and State Growth. It marks a significant milestone in national efforts to strengthen Australia’s defence industry supply chain and create new opportunities for Tasmanian businesses.

ABOUT AIDN
Established in 1995, the Australian Industry & Defence Network Limited (AIDN) is the peak industry association representing small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) supporting the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and the Department of Defence (DoD).
AIDN proudly represents nearly 1,000 Australian SMEs, collectively employing approximately 61,000 Australians nationwide. In the 2021-22 financial year, these dedicated businesses contributed $10.6 billion to the national economy through sovereign supply chains, advanced manufacturing, research and innovation, skills development, and regional and veteran employment.
In an environment of economic and geopolitical uncertainty, AIDN’s agile membership is well-positioned to support the Australian Government’s urgent capability needs. However, clear guidance on specific priorities is essential to unlock the full potential of Australia’s Defence industry.
Through advocacy, representation, and tailored member services, AIDN champions the interests of Australian SMEs within the Defence and national security sectors. AIDN remains committed to partnering with the Australian Government to build a resilient and self-reliant Defence industrial base, driven by the evolving operational needs of the ADF.
