South Australian defence companies Silentium Defence and REDARC Defence & Space have joined forces to accelerate the delivery of next-generation surveillance solutions.
A global leader in passive radar systems, Silentium Defence has announced a strategic manufacturing partnership with REDARC Defence & Space, one of Australia’s most respected advanced electronics manufacturers for the defence and space sectors.
The collaboration marks a significant step in building Australia’s sovereign defence industrial capability. By combining Silentium Defence’s cutting-edge passive radar technology with REDARC’s world-class manufacturing expertise, the partnership will accelerate the delivery of leading surveillance solutions to Australian and global markets.
Silentium Defence’s passive radar systems provide defence forces and commercial customers with a discreet way to monitor potential threats, from drones and aircraft to objects in Low Earth Orbit, without being detected. Using reflections from everyday signals such as television and radio, these systems offer a strategic advantage for covert surveillance and can be deployed quickly with minimal setup.
Global CEO of Silentium Defence Dr James Palmer said the partnership ensures Australia remains at the forefront of innovation in defence technology.
“Partnering with REDARC Defence & Space enables us to scale the production of our passive radar systems here in Australia, ensuring our customers have rapid access to the most advanced covert situational awareness technologies available,” Dr Palmer said.
“Our ambition is to lead the world in passive radar – building sovereign capabilities, bolstering national security and creating high-value career opportunities for our people along the way.”
The partnership highlights the importance of Australian innovation and local supply chains in strengthening national security. Both companies share a commitment to fostering a robust domestic defence industry capable of meeting current and future challenges.
CEO of REDARC Defence & Space Anthony Kittel emphasised the importance of local innovation and self-reliance.
“This partnership is vital for integrating advanced technologies into critical defence platforms, ensuring our forces have access to the best possible solutions manufactured right here in Australia. It’s about building a robust, self-reliant defence industry that can meet current and future challenges,” Mr Kittel said.
Silentium Defence and REDARC have already commenced their manufacturing partnership, with plans to collaborate over the next three years.
